Products - AM101

These 28 naturally occurring aerobic microbes have been selected for their hydrocarbon degrading capabilities. Although they are aerobic, most organisms of these species will go into anoxic respiration in the absence of oxygen, replacing it with nitrate nitrogen if necessary. Each species is tested after it is grown to ensure it has maintained its desired qualities. They are then blended into the AM-101 inoculate for cultivation.

To the microbe, a hydrocarbon molecule is simply a source of carbon. The complete metabolism may take six intermediate steps but the goal is to recycle carbon while generating energy. As an example, straight-chain (aliphatic) hydrocarbons are first degraded into alcohols, then to aldehydes, organic acids and finally carbon dioxide & water via other –pathways. Similarly, ring structures such as benzene first require a three step cleavage of the ring to form a straight-chain acid. The energy liberated from these high energy compounds then serves to promote more enzyme production, reproduction of cells, and the maintenance needs of a viable cellular community.

As shown repeatedly in lab research, a single microbe’s species is less capable of complete hydrocarbon degradation when compared to a multi species, cooperative community. The following compounds have been degraded by this field-proven blend:

  • Petroleum Hydrocarbons, Oil and Grease
  • Gasoline, Diesel, Fuel Oil
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (Benzene, Toluene, Xylene)
  • PAHs (Naphthalene, Anthracene, Flourene)
  • Phenols and Alcohols
