How Our AM-101 Microbial Product Works
The microbes in AM-101 view contaminants—such as oils, fuels, and hydrocarbons—simply as a food source. Their natural metabolism breaks down these complex contaminants into simpler substances through a series of chemical reactions. For example, long-chain hydrocarbons are gradually transformed from oils and fuels into simpler forms such as alcohols, then further broken down into mild organic acids, and ultimately into harmless byproducts like carbon dioxide and water.
For more complex contaminants like benzene (ring-shaped structures), microbes first break open the ring structure, converting it into simpler forms that can then be completely metabolized.
